  • There are over 250 general-purpose foreign-trade zones in the United States, including Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico.
     
  • Over 2,800 companies/firms take advantage of foreign-trade zones.
     
  • Over 338,000 people are employed at facilities operating under FTZ status.
     
  • Approximately 62% of merchandise received throught FTZs is domestic. Domestic status merchandise is mainly maerchandise of domestic origin but includes some foreign-origin goods for which Customs entry and duty payments have been made prior to admission into a zone.
     
  • More than $240 billion worth of merchandise is moved through FTZs annually.
     
  • Exports from FTZs exceed $20 billion annually.
